Mr Pevkur, who is currently in Lithuania, told Delfi that he hopes to contact his Russian counterpart already today. “We are working to get the officer back to Estonia. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable,” said the minister.

According to Mr Pevkur the crime scene, where the incident took place, has been examined and all relevant officials are working towards solving the situation.

The State Prosecutor’s Office announced that around 9 AM this morning unidentified persons coming from Russia took the freedom of an Estonian Security Police officer on the territory of Estonia, near Luhamaa border crossing station. The officer was taken to Russia at gunpoint, using physical force.
