LightWork Design, a leading developer of 3-D visualization and simulation software, on Wednesday announced it is working with Intel to optimize LightWork's photorealistic rendering technology for Intel's Itanium 64-bit processor.

The LightWorks rendering system integrates key rendering techniques in one package and is designed to be directly integrated into 3-D software applications.

"Working together to optimize LightWorks will result in even more powerful rendering solutions for users," said Gordon Oliver, president and CEO of LightWork Design, Sheffield, England. "Our customers will be able to take advantage of the performance enhancements for the Intel Architecture."

"Intel Itanium processor technology extends the Intel Architecture into the highest segments of workstation computing and will deliver new levels of performance and scalability to the new e-business economy," said Anand Chandrasekher, general manager of Intel's Workstation Products Group in Santa Clara, Calif.
