Estonian authorities have not yet released details of President Barack Obama’s visit to Tallinn. However Delfi photographer noticed what seemed clearly to be Secret Service activity around the historic Kadriorg Palace, which was built by Peter the Great.

This could suggest that the Estonian President Mr Toomas Hendrik Ilves might receive Obama at the grand rooms of the former Czar’s palace.

The pink palace was commissioned by Peter the Great for his wife and eventual successor Catherine I.

The Russian Czars used this thereafter as an occasional summer retreat, until the fall of Russian Empire and Estonian independence in 1918.

Thereafter the palace was opened to the public and turned into a museum. It houses the collections of the Estonian Museum of Arts to this day.

The Estonian president’s official residence is located just behind the palace.
